Little Village Chamber of Commerce Announces a Partnership with Road to Status, a Chicago-based Immigration Tech Start-up to Provide and Low-Cost Access to Necessary Immigration Services
CHICAGO, IL (Feb 1, 2017) — It’s no secret that the recent change in administration is causing increased anxiety and uncertainty for immigrant families across the country and all over the globe. New changes and executive orders are literally rolling out on a daily basis, and the long-term impacts of these changes are difficult to predict. Communities are glued to their TV sets looking for clues about what is coming next and how it may or may not affect existing programs like DACA, which provides temporary deportation relief and work authorization to more than 700,000 people living and working in the U.S. today. Those individuals and families affected by these newly announced orders see these changes as a major cause for concern. As communities begin to digest and react to the recent activity, many see these changes as a necessary and immediate call to action to community leaders everywhere when it comes to immigration services.

Using simple technology like Road to Status empowers the Hispanic community to seek out eligibility information and take action from their smartphone or any other connected device. Through this partnership with Little Village Chamber of Commerce, Road to Status has launched a customized immigration services and information website where community members and their extended families can check their eligibility online, gain access to tools and services to help them apply for benefits on their own, or get connected with a network partner attorney that can provide low cost reviews of completed applications prior to filing with USCIS. For those unsure of their immigration options, information about low cost initial consultations is available. Through this partnership, Road to Status will honor a 30% discount off of its online application preparation software to any user accessing the platform via the Little Village Chamber of Commerce platform.
It is estimated that more than 350,000 people in the Chicago metro area have the qualifications to become U.S. Citizens today. (Source – Chicago Tribune 2016). Next to Los Angeles and New York, Chicago has the third largest Latino population in the country, with nearly two million people residing within the city limits. The Little Village Chamber of Commerce community represents more than a half million of these Latinos within a five-mile radius of Chicago that could use immigration services. Activating, educating, and encouraging this population of potential citizens to take action has never been more important. There are a myriad of reasons (staggering legal costs, conflicting family financial priorities, lack of access to information, preexisting legal issues, etc.) why individuals and families delay or do not aggressively seek out immigration or citizenship benefits in Chicago and across the country.
